In case you are not aware, SEMCOG is gathering testimonials to help advocate for continuance of CDBG funding.

Proposed federal budget eliminates Community Development Block Grants
The president’s budget proposal was released last week and local governments were concerned to see the proposal did not include funding for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). In SEMCOG’s discussions with the region’s Congressional delegation, many expressed concerns over the potential loss of this important support to local governments. In order to aid in Congressional efforts to maintain the CDBG program, SEMCOG has been asked for examples of how CDBG funds have been used in the past.

In order to help retain this important program, please send very brief descriptions of how your community has used CDGB funds in the past. Please email these descriptions to Bill Anderson. SEMCOG will compile the list and forward the examples to our region’s U.S. Senators and members of Congress, along with a message in support of this federal program.
