In this workshop Detroit Future City will cover the benefits of placemaking, how transforming vacant spaces can create a sense of place in a neighborhood and provide the community with a place to gather. Tips for raising funds, engaging community in the placemaking planning process, event logistics, and placekeeping will be covered. Through hands-on activities they’ll share ways to incorporate different types of art and structures to engage the community and enhance a space. By the end of the workshop you’ll be able to bring back transferable skills and activities that you can share with your community group and neighborhood.
